“Believe That You Can: Moving with tenacity toward the dream God has given you” by Jentezen Franklin

Excellent book. I could hardly put it down. It has confirmed a lot of things for me that I learned over time and it has also given me some things to think about at the same time. I learned a lot that I did not know about the different levels or phases we go through in various areas of our life. Brother Franklin wrote this in an easy to understand and humorous style. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to see their dreams come true, or who have become frustrated and disillusioned with life or the fact their dreams seem so far away to them.

“Reimagining Church: Pursuing the Dream of Organic Christianity” by Frank Viola

Excellent synopsis of all that is wrong with the modern American church. Very useful information for those wishing to start a House Church or even to discover why they have lost interest in “Church as usual”. I definitely recommend reading the first book in the series “Pagan Christianity?” before diving into this one.

“Pagan Christianity?: Exploring the Roots of Our Church Practices” by Frank Viola

Best book on Church History I have ever read! Very well documented and very enlightening. If you want to know where we get our modern Church practices and why you may be discontented with Church, read this book. When you have finished this book, go ahead and pick up a copy of “ReImagining Church” by the same author.

“Kosher Sex: A Recipe for Passion and Intimacy” by Shmuley Boteach

This book is full of Biblical insight into marriage and physical intimacy. It addresses many touchy subjects, but is a real eye opener. This should be mandatory reading in premarital counseling. I enjoyed it very much. It is full of humor as well as serious exhortations about the sanctity and seriousness of marriage. Whether you are already married, or are considering marriage, I would recommend you buy a copy and both partners read it. It will help your marriage.

Blessed Assurance

In 1873, Fanny Crosby penned these words:

“Blessèd assurance, Jesus is mine!
O what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.”

What beautiful words to match the beautiful music they were written to. Let us reflect for a moment on these words. What do they mean to us as children of God?

If we have confessed with our mouths that Yeshua (Jesus) is Lord, with a believing heart, we have a blessed assurance that we shall live with Him for all eternity and escape the eternal torment of Hell and the Lake of Fire! We were bought with a price, the ultimate sacrifice…a loving father gave His only son to die on a tree, a spotless and perfect Passover lamb, so that we may have life eternal and forever be in the presence of God!  We are overcomers by the word of our testimony and the Blood of the Lamb! His blood washes us clean and makes us a new creation. We become born again…a spiritual re-birth.

“Perfect submission, perfect delight,
Visions of rapture now burst on my sight;
Angels descending bring from above
Echoes of mercy, whispers of love.”

Here we find the key to a victorious Christian life, as I am sure Fanny Crosby knew all too well. Perfect submission. We must submit ourselves utterly and completely to our Heavenly Father, seeking to always obey Him in all we do. Perfect Delight. We must delight ourselves in Him first, and then He will delight in us. Seek ye first the Kingdom of God, His righteousness, and ALL these things shall be added unto you. Worship Him with your entire being and with all your heart and soul.

“Perfect submission, all is at rest
I in my Savior am happy and blest,
Watching and waiting, looking above,
Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.”

Again, we are reminded of the importance of perfect submission. When we submit to Him and Delight in Him, we find rest. We have inner peace and joy unspeakable! When we delight in YHWH, we are happy and we are blessed. We feel the love of YHWH when we love Him completely and truly. YHWH is truly the God of love and when we have Him in our heart, we are filled with His goodness and surrounded by His Glory. When we are filled with His Holy Spirit, we know we are saved…we have that Blessed Assurance!

The chorus goes like this:

“This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior, all the day long;
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior, all the day long.”

This is MY story and MY song! Is it yours? Do you have that Blessed Assurance?

If you answered “yes” to that question, then praise YHWH! Continue praising your savior daily.

If you answered that question “no”, then pray this prayer, or something similar, from your heart and out loud:

“Dear Jesus, I am a sinner. I am not worthy of your love or your mercy. I come to you now with a humble and contrite heart, asking for forgiveness of all my sins and repenting of my past lifestyle. Cleanse me and renew me. I accept your free gift of salvation and now openly confess you are Lord and I give my life to you as you gave your life for me. Lord, I want that Blessed Assurance. Make me whole, help me to always live for you and hear your voice.” Amen.

Now that you have accepted Yeshua into your heart, start praising Him for what He has done! Enjoy that Blessed Assurance and tell a friend what has taken place. Shalom!
